Hi all, this is Jay, one of the new HS apprentices. Its coming close to the end of my second month here, here’s some of the things ive been up to while im here.
I’ve been creating resources to help with the transition between primary and secondary school. I’ve been making them for the children and am in the process of developing a teacher/ parent one as well to aid them with the childrens transition too!
I’ve been into a few of our schools too helping Andy with his sessions for the young people. This has been very fun for me as I get to see the actual impact of my job, how its benefiting the young people.
I’ve also been creating my own session plans to introduce in schools for next year. These sessions will be about identity issues young people may face, specifically surrounding sexuality and gender identity. This is a huge passion of mine and i’m keen to ensure that all young people have access to support as it can be a huge struggle for them.
