I have been working with a group of students from Trinity Catholic College, from different year groups (Years 7-10) and they have recently achieved their Headstarters Bronze award.
The students have worked really hard and managed to attend the Headstarters sessions alongside their busy academic schedules.
I am so proud of you all for your level of commitment and hard work.
The work we have covered so far includes – what is anxiety and how we can look after ourselves, identifying different moods, the importance of good quality sleep, friendships and setting your boundaries, your identity and safeguarding, self esteem and the stigma surrounding mental health.
Although I am delivering the sessions around mental health issues, the group also inform me from a young person’s perspective on mental health and how we can update sessions, for other young people – capturing the Young Person’s voice, which is imperative.
The group were also recently involved in the Yr 6 Transition video which has been played to hundreds of year 6 pupils during the transition sessions this summer.
The group have now started to work towards their Headstarters Silver award.
Well done Trinity Headstarters, you will be great Mental Health champions and I am so proud of you all.
