In relation to this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Lived Experience, Real Voices, Real Change,” the Trinity Key+ Group are a fantastic example of young people making a real difference within their school community.
The group recently shared their experiences and reflected on the positive impact that being involved in the project has had on them. Their stories highlighted the strong sense of friendship, belonging and connection that has developed throughout their journey.
The group began their Key+ journey by successfully achieving Stage 1, securing £250 to support a school baking project. Using the school’s kitchen facilities, they planned and prepared a range of treats which were then sold within the school community.
The money raised was reinvested into a Catholic Life Project, helping to support individuals requiring social and emotional support.
Throughout the project, the young people developed a wide range of valuable skills, including planning, communication, negotiation, presentation and evaluation. They have demonstrated commitment, teamwork and creativity at every stage, while continually reflecting on their progress and achievements.
The group have now embarked on Stage 2, where they are aiming to secure £500 to create a dedicated wellbeing hub within the school, known as the “Trini Hub.” The students are incredibly excited about the opportunity, with ideas already flowing and plans beginning to take shape.
It has been inspiring to hear the young people’s voices and see first-hand the positive impact the project has had on their wellbeing, confidence and sense of purpose. We are excited to follow their progress and see the Trini Hub become a reality.
