As Carers Week 2025 approaches (9–15 June), we’re inviting schools across South Tees to join the campaign in recognising and supporting our unpaid carers by taking part in the Carers Week Pledge.
This year’s theme, “Caring About Equality,” shines a light on the deep-rooted inequalities faced by unpaid carers across the UK. In South Tees alone, there are over 30,000 unpaid carers—many of whom are juggling their responsibilities while feeling unseen and under-supported. These individuals are vital to the wellbeing and safety of our communities.
We Care You Care, in partnership with local authorities and carer support organisations, has developed six simple but powerful actions that individuals, organisations, and leaders can take to champion unpaid carers and raise awareness. These pledges are designed to help build a fairer, healthier, and more connected South Tees.
How Your School Can Get Involved:
- Make a Pledge: Choose from six easy actions to show your support for unpaid carers. We even have a dedicated schools pledge to make this easy.
- Promote Awareness: Share information about Carers Week and the important role of unpaid carers within your school and wider community.
- Lead by Example: Encourage staff, pupils, and families to make their own pledges and join the conversation.
