Outwood Bydales HeadStarters wanted to use their knowledge and experience to help Y6 pupils coming into their school soon.
As well as making a video to be shown on Transition days, they also went out to a local primary school, Westgarth, to answer any questions the pupils had about their upcoming move to their school
The Westgarth pupils had many great questions they had prepared, which the HeadStarters were able to answer, and they were able to reassure the pupils about the move. It was good for the primary pupils to get this opportunity to ask those who had actually been through transition to secondary recently, and had a lot of the same questions they did when they were going through the process!
Outwood Bydales HeadStarters had already achieved their Bronze and Silver certificates, and this week are being presented with their HeadStart Gold certificates for their fantastic work and their efforts this year. A massive congratulations to them for this! As mentioned, they have made a great video with HeadStart to help those transitioning into the school; they have been successful in securing Key+ funding to put towards a wellbeing space in school for pupils; they have used their knowledge to go out into the community to help primaries and they will be present on Transition days to help new pupils to the school
They are a hard working group and a pleasure to work alongside, who, along with their Mental Health Lead Miss Pressley, are always up for a challenge. They have really bonded during their time doing HeadStarters and it has been great to see them gain confidence and have a lot fun whilst helping others
What a fantastic year 😊
