Hi my name is Niamh, I’m originally from Middlesbrough, but I currently live in Leeds where I am studying Psychology at University.
I’m currently on my second placement with HeadStart (thanks for having me back 😊) which is giving me hands on experience of working with young people.
As part of my placement, I have been visiting different primary and secondary schools that the HeadStart Team work with.
I have been involved in sessions looking at attendance, building resilience, wellbeing in the run up to SATS and I have met up with the lovely HeadStarters to find out about the great work that they are doing.
I also attended a conference on the SEND reforms looking at what the impacts will be.
It has been great taking part in different activities like the Lunchtime Journaling Club at Westgarth Primary and drawing our hands using our 5 fingers to look at the 5 senses – see, smell, hear, taste and touch to remind ourselves how to be calm it is all very interesting.
I would like to thank the HeadStart Team, HeadStarters and young people who I have met during my placement. Keep up the good work and I will hopefully see you all again 😊
