The Lockwood HeadStarters have clearly been on a roll — getting involved in Internet Safety Day and creating a belonging‑themed video for Children’s Mental Health Week is a brilliant combination of digital awareness and emotional wellbeing. That’s exactly the kind of youth‑led voice that makes the programme so powerful.
The children in Year 5 have also enjoyed working virtually with author and rap artists Alim Kamara. They wrote their very own rap on the theme of mental health and wellbeing during National Storytelling week.
They explored themes of resilience, friendship, how to build mental strength and recognising feelings and created and performed their own raps during a poetry showcase within school. They then used green screen technology to create videos of their performances. The children grew in confidence and feel very proud of their achievements.
