Today, on the hottest day of the year, a group of Rye Hills Academy HeadStarters absolutely blew staff and teachers away.
These young people joined the HeadStart at Ings Farm Primary School to deliver a two-hour transition workshop for a large group of Year 6 pupils. Supporting them to feel more confident, informed, and prepared for the move up to secondary school.
These HeadStarters only began their journey eight weeks ago. They were introduced to this project last week. And yet, they delivered like they’d been rehearsing for months. They were incredible!
They led with calm, compassion, and insight. Sharing their own experiences, encouraging open conversations, and modelling emotional support that truly helped pupils feel heard. They stories and advice, were inspiring and positive.
The Year 6s were engaged and teachers were impressed. Mr Bethell, the headteacher at Ings Farm Primary thanked these young people for their great attitude and determination. We were, quite honestly, in awe.
These young people have embraced the HeadStarter role and become leaders and role models. They have shown us what they are capable of.
We are so proud of this group. They’re not just preparing for their own futures, developing skills with a keenest to learn, they’re supporting the future for others.
