The positive feedback we receive from schools highlights the impact that HeadStart’s work have had on the staff, children and families within the school community.
The recognition of increased willingness among children to engage in thoughtful conversations and support each other is evident to the effectiveness of the service.
The Autumn term brought some changes to service delivery, yet it is clear to see that schools value the efforts of HeadStart, in fostering a more resilient community.
Some feedback received from schools during the first term of 2025/26:
“All of your work has been fantastic. The children are very keen for Wednesday afternoons and speak so highly of your sessions. I regularly have other children asking if they can join so they must speak about it positively with friends! run by Gill”
“We recognised a group of girls who had SEMH needs; they thrived in these sessions – loved to share and support each other and we can definitely see a difference back in the classroom.”
“Confidence and being able to talk about feelings, supporting others and recognising how to help themselves and others.
“Children are keen to be Headstarters and love to share to the whole school their projects.”
“I feel that Julie creates a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with the children and is able to make them feel really comfortable. I do know that the children have enjoyed the sessions. As a school, we welcome her input and always like it when she comes in.”
“Julie has a really positive presence in our school and I feel we collaborate well. Our work with HeadStart is very visible in school and we look forward to continuing this really positive relationship.”
“Although some of the children struggled to engage in certain sessions, they seem to have developed an increased willingness to pause and listen to others, whether adults or children, and to consider different viewpoints with a less defensive approach to conversations.”
“The children in the group have all shown a new confidence in sharing their feelings and asking for help when needed.”
“Another wonderfully organised and engaging intervention run by Julie.”
“A fantastic idea and suited the group perfectly; this is something we would love to see again. Julie is amazing at knowing what will work once we have discussed the pupils she will be working with and their needs.”
“Julie is an amazing practitioner and supports the school, above and beyond.”
“Julie has done amazing work with this group of children. Her sessions are engaging and encouraging and we look forward to continuing our work with her next year.”
“The children have spoken positively about the group sessions they have attended. They are not due to start secondary until September next year, but we believe attending the sessions with Carly will help alleviate any worries they may have and give them the tools/strategies to enable a smooth transition.”
