Here’s your fortnightly reminder to check in with yourself 😊 The mornings and nights are feeling a little brrrrr and daylight hours are getting shorter – how are you faring with the seasonal shift?
The change of seasons is part of a natural cycle of nature and out of our control however it can impact how you might be feeling mentally and physically.
Many of us have enjoyed the longer days and warmer temperatures of Summer and as Autumn and Winter loom it’s natural for some people to feel apprehension for the colder, darker months ahead. So we’ve put together a few tips for managing your mental health this Autumn.
As we mentioned in our last edition attending to the basics can make a huge difference in helping us to cope with life with more resilience and ease.
- Access to fresh and nature is key for our overall wellbeing – go for walks to enjoy the Autumn colours -this can really improve your mood and physical health.
- Prioritise sleep – during the seasonal shift getting enough rest is essential and will help you to cope with daily demands.
- Nutrition – fuel yourself well with healthy meals like soups and stews, nourish yourself with seasonal veg like squash and pumpkins. Eating well can help to boost your immune system.
- Be mindful – it can help us to pay attention to the changing environment and invest in practices like meditation, yoga, mindful walks or other ways that help you to feel present and enjoy the moment.
- Set some goals – you might want to use the Autumn season as an opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth. They do say that as the trees shed their leaves nature can show us how good it is to let things go!
- Get cosy! Bring some sparkle in with candles, fairy lights and other Autumn themed decorations to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Embrace Autumn with the self-care you deserve!
